What is happening and why?

鈥嬄槎构� Maternity Department will be replacing handheld paper maternity records with a new, digital system on 25th February 2025.鈥�

鈥婽here are many benefits to using the BadgerNet electronic record system including:鈥�

Care records can be easily updated at each visit鈥�
Appointment dates and test results can be shared with patients via the companion app Badger Notes鈥�
Midwives will no longer have to enter information into both a digital system and a paper record鈥�
Greater security as only those with correct login details can access the records.鈥�

I registered my pregnancy before 21st February 2025 and have paper notes, what do I need to do now?

鈥婥ontinue to bring your paper notes with you at every visit, we will still need to refer to these.鈥�
If you haven鈥檛 already consented for us to create you a Badger Notes account or if your Badger Notes access or activation isn鈥檛 working, please contact听sft.maternityadministration@nhs.net who can assist with getting this set up for you.

Patient FAQs

鈥�Q: Do I still need to carry my paper maternity notes?鈥�

A: Yes! If you have paper notes, you will need to continue to bring these to all appointments and attendances at hospital so as staff can see your history. However, we will no longer be able to write in this record and will update our digital system, BadgerNet, instead.鈥�

Q: What is Badger Notes?鈥�

A: Badger Notes is the patients鈥� app where information from our BadgerNet system will be sent to you. You can download the Badger Notes app on your mobile device or create an account online so as you can view your maternity care information and appointment details. For more information about Badger Notes, click 鈥�

Q: Can I sign up for a Badger Notes account now?鈥�

A:听if you have received an activation phrase from our maternity administration team then you can register for a Badger Notes account. If you have not yet received an activation phrase or you still need to consent to Badger Notes account creation then please contact our maternity administrators by email听sft.maternityadministration@nhs.net.

GP FAQs

鈥�Q: How will I review my patient鈥檚 maternity record if they don鈥檛 have paper notes?鈥�

A: GPs will be able to log into Badger Notes with a 鈥渢oken鈥� provided by their patient to add their own commentary at patient appointments. See this guide for more information.鈥�

Q: How will I refer a woman to 麻豆国产 maternity services?鈥�

A: In the same way as before, via our hospital website. The website page will stay the same, just the embedded link will change to direct you to our single point of access (SPA)

Q: How will I receive information about my patients鈥� maternity care?

A: We will be sending antenatal booking, labour & birth and discharge summaries direct to GP inboxes via the addresses provided by your surgery. If you don鈥檛 receive these or would like another copy sent please email听sft.salisburymaternitywardclerks@nhs.net
