An orthosis is an externally applied device used to modify the structural and functional characteristics of the neuromuscular and skeletal system. These may include spinal braces, collars, specialist footwear, insoles, etc. The team in 麻豆国产 provides a service to both hospital in-patients and out-patient clinics (including a satellite clinic in Shaftesbury), using orthotic devices as part of a patient鈥檚 overall treatment programme. We work in multi-disciplinary teams and run joint clinics with other departments, especially with the 麻豆国产鈥檚 Unit, the Lower Limb Clinic in Rheumatology, the Diabetic Foot Clinic and the regional Spinal Treatment Centre. The on-site workshop allows us to adapt devices to give a more comfortable and better fit. The Moir茅 Fringe clinic, used to assess for back posture, spinal curvature and leg length difference, is also run within the Orthotics team.
