Request Summary: NHS Staff Sleep Pods and Sleeping Facilities
Request Category: Private Individuals
| Question Number 1: I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding NHS expenditure on sleep pods and dedicated sleeping facilities for hospital staff. Clarification For the purposes of this request, I am interested in facilities specifically intended to allow staff to sleep, rather than general staff lounges, break rooms or seating areas. Where possible, I would prefer separate figures for purpose-built sleep pods and dedicated sleeping rooms. However, if these are recorded together, a combined figure is acceptable, provided this is clearly indicated. If your trust operates multiple hospital sites, I would prefer the figures broken down by hospital. However, if this is not possible, trust-wide totals are absolutely fine. If your trust does not have any relevant sleep pods or dedicated sleeping facilities, please confirm this. If it has incurred relevant expenditure during the three-year period but no longer operates the facilities, please still provide the historical information requested. I am requesting information already held by your trust and am not seeking any personal or identifying information. Cost limits and partial disclosure If providing the full request would exceed the appropriate cost limit under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act, I would be grateful if you could consider providing any information that can be disclosed within the applicable limit. For example, if Questions 4 and 5 cannot be answered, I would still welcome the information requested in Questions 1-3, particularly the expenditure figures. If any information cannot be provided, please identify which elements cannot be answered and explain why. I am particularly interested in facilities provided to allow doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to sleep or rest during breaks or between shifts.
