Request Summary: Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services
Request Category: Charities
| Question Number 1: I'm submitting this request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board let me know that this falls under 麻豆国产 NHS Foundation Trust's remit, which is why I'm writing to you directly. Please could you provide the following for your Trust for each of the last three financial years (2023/24鈥2025/26): The number of individuals identified as drinking at increasing or higher risk levels (e.g. via AUDIT/AUDIT-C screening), or using drugs at a harmful or dependent level. | |
| Answer To Question 1: 2023/24 = 853 2024/25 = 1398 2025/26 = 1445 | |
| Question Number 2: Of those, how many were referred into treatment, broken down by referral source (e.g. self-referral, GP, criminal justice, hospital, other). | |
| Answer To Question 2: The Trust do not offer any outpatient treatment for patients with alcohol excess or drug misuse. The alcohol team only see patients admitted to hospital who are identified as drinking excessively, they do not receive referrals from anywhere other than inpatient teams, so all referrals to our team come from within the hospital. | |
| Question Number 3: Of those identified but not referred into treatment, or referred but not engaging, the reasons recorded for this. | |
| Answer To Question 3: Emergency treatment to prevent withdrawal is started on admission, but this is to ensure patient does not have a seizure, it is not part of a long term treatment plan and therefore the patient does not really have the option to refuse or not engage with it as it is part of their acute medical management in hospital. | |
| Question Number 4: The average waiting time from referral to the start of treatment. | |
| Answer To Question 4: There is no delay in starting once the patient has been identified as at risk. But in terms of long term abstinence management or a supported planned detox with ongoing follow up, this is not something we offer. We do not offer long term treatment after discharge - this is all arranged by community services so the requester would need to contact Turning Point for this information. We offer a one-off phone call post discharge just to see how patients are getting on and offer signposting to local community services. | |
| Question Number 5: Any digital health, harm-reduction or self-management tools (e.g. apps) commissioned to support drug/alcohol treatment or recovery, and their cost. | |
| Answer To Question 5: There are no commissioned digital health tools in 麻豆国产 that we are aware of. | |
